Moods Project

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2025

Overview

Moods Project is a personal mental health tracking application. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how it is protected.

Short version: Your health data belongs to you. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than operating the app on your behalf.

What data we collect

We collect only the data you enter directly into the app:

  • Your account credentials (username, email address, hashed password or passkey)
  • Mood entries — ratings you submit on a 1–10 scale for each mood dimension
  • Sleep periods — start and end times you record
  • Medication logs — medication names, doses, and timestamps you enter
  • Symptom logs — symptom names, severity ratings, and timestamps you enter
  • Journal entries — text notes you write

We do not collect location data, contacts, camera or microphone data, or any data from your device beyond what you explicitly submit in the app.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to operate the app for you:

  • To display your history, charts, and reports within the app
  • To generate provider-ready PDF exports on your request
  • To authenticate you when you sign in

We do not use your data for advertising, machine learning on aggregate data, research, or any purpose not listed above.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in a secured database hosted on SmarterASP.NET in the United States. Access is protected by authentication and encrypted connections (TLS). Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Passkey credentials store only a public key; your private key never leaves your device.

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of mental health data.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with any third party, except:

  • Hosting infrastructure: SmarterASP.NET stores the database. They operate under standard data processing agreements and do not access application data.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law or a valid legal process, we may be compelled to disclose data. We will notify you if permitted to do so.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all data stored about you (visible within the app)
  • Correct inaccurate entries (edit or delete any log directly in the app)
  • Delete your account and all associated data (Account → Delete Account)
  • Export your data as a PDF report at any time

Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All mood entries, sleep records, medication logs, symptom logs, journal entries, and passkey credentials are deleted immediately.

Cookies and tracking

Moods Project uses session cookies required for authentication. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party tracking scripts. There are no ads in Moods Project.

Children

Moods Project is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
